However, she doesn't want to be this way. Really.
If she could, she would want to be in the center of attention. Half of the time she's usually thinking- "how do I go about starting a conversation?" Awkward really is an understatement for her. Of course doing regular university things like parties, mixers and dances would most likely open her up, but she just doesn't want to do it purely due to nerves and her laziness. So, although she wants to make friends, she doesn't put in quite enough effort to make it happen. Most of the time she wishes that other people would take the initiative and talk to her. Unfortunately, most of her peers just leave her alone because she seems to forever have her 'don't talk to me' face on. But hey, she can't help it that she looks like she hates the world whenever she's expressionless.
Besides that, if you actually manage to get close to her (which isn't hard to do, since she opens up easily despite her appearance) you'd see that the one word to describe her would be - idiotic. Leia's the type of girl to crack really dumb puns and laugh at them as if she were a comedic genius. Among her close friends, most would categorize her to be the comic relief - even if her jokes aren't funny, her silliness (aka. stupidity) is contagious so they end up feeling cheered up anyway.
Of course, she has a tendency to do this even when something serious is going on, leading people to get mad or annoyed at her. It's not because she can't assess situations but because she's just not good at dealing with problematic things like arguments and fights. Leia is a complete pushover - call her an idiot? She'll accept it. Tell her that she did something wrong, and she'll probably apologize for it. In fact, she usually apologizes for everything even when she knows it's not her fault. This isn't because she's an pacifistic soul who's all for making peace, but mainly because she just doesn't care. Leia knows that if she apologizes, the other person usually calms down and everything goes back to normal. Among her closest friends, they are completely aware of this, so whenever she apologizes, they usually get more annoyed at her since they know she doesn't mean it. But towards acquaintances, she just seems like an easy going pacifist.
Finally, Leia's a runner. Not physically of course. She hates dealing with problems so she pushes them back in attempts to forget about it. These problems obviously don't disappear, so she has moments where she completely breaks down behind closed doors. But, Leia never lets anyone know about anything that's troubling her - not even her closest friends. In fact, most people don't even think she has problems because she's forever either calm (aka. expressionless) or smiling.
In Korea, Leia would get really crappy grades, however when she moved to America, that all changed. Okay so the transition to english was a bit tough, but considering that her mother was already fluent due to her job as a translator, Leia was already exposed to the language on a daily basis before moving. But anyway, the Korean education system must've wanted to kill their students because Leia suddenly felt education in America to be 10 times easier. Her grades went up drastically, and she was quickly viewed as a typical smart Asian. She would often say that she had the art of procrastinating down since she would only study the day before and get great grades.
But then university decided to ruin everything. Gone were her days of 4.0 GPAs. After messing up beautifully in freshman year, Leia's gpa was an abysmal 2.4. So much for the art of procrastinating. In her defence, she had no idea what she was going to major in, so she idiotically picked courses in the sciences.
Now in her sophomore year, in the communications department, her grade still suffers due to her habit of procrastinating but they are sloooooowly increasing. (And then she messes up on a test and they fall back down again. Why is it so hard for your GPA to increase, but so damn easy for it to fall?!)
( I mirror the amount that people write cx; This was written in 2010 by the way LMAO. cx;;;; I hope that's okay.)
The brunette's hand laid rested on top of the alarm as the music continued pouring out. She was never very lucky with whacking the 'sleep' button on the first try. "Nnghhh.." She groaned and continued whacking whatever her hand was on, hoping to get the button. Finally the loud music stopped. Yoona let out a relieved sigh and continued off to dream land. Wait. No. Today was special. She had purposely set her alarm to go off an hour earlier than usual. Why did she do that again?
The infiltration plan! The seventeen year old shot up from bed. Although she wasn't taking part in it, she still wanted to get to school early to see if she could find some of her classmates all dressed up. It seemed like something from a popular korean drama. She wanted to take part, but in the end, didn't have the guts to volunteer. And well, her classmates had said 'no' to her as well. Whatever! She could still be a proud supporter! Yoona really had nothing against the guy's school, she was just excited to be enthusiastic about something. Obviously, she really needed something interesting happening in her life.
The girl slowly sauntered to the bathroom and looked at her tired reflection. She needed a bath, something that always freshened her up. After a short and quick shower, Yoona felt revitalized. She pulled out her hairdryer and blew dry her hair. This was her parent's alarm. Whenever her hair dryer was on, it was time for them to wake up, make breakfast and send her to school. Okay, so she was spoiled, but it wasn't her fault. It was just routine. Her long brown hair fell down in loose waves on her shoulders, and she took her comb and brushed it until it looked fairly neat. Finally, she pulled on her school uniform. She smoothed out the pleats neatly and took out her ruler, measuring the length between the end of her skirt and her knee. Yoona was pretty OCD about silly things like that. And finally, she had gotten ready.
Stepping out of the bathroom, there was only one thing left to do before she left. Breakfast. The girl skipped downstairs and scanned the empty kitchen. Where were her parents? And her breakfast?? Yoona walked up to the counter and saw a messily-scribbled note- "Yoonaa~! We're going off early today. Make your own breakfast and find your way to school.". The teen stared down at the sheet, her eyes practically popping out. How was she going to get to school early enough without a car? Dammit, she was too spoiled.
Yoona slung her bag over her shoulders and walked out of her house, not bothering to make breakfast for herself. She looked around to see if there was any alternative means of transportation. She found a bicycle and a skateboard. Not wanting to add more reasons for the theory that she was actually a boy in disguise, she decided to take the bike. Now all she needed to do was not crash into anything moving.
Twenty minutes later she rode past the gates of her school. Her hair was messy, her uniform was ruffled and her knee was scuffed. So much for not riding into anything, luckily, no one was hurt. She locked the bike up and proceeded to enter the building, but not before running her fingers through her hair as a makeshift brush. Once she believed she looked less like a thug, she went inside the doors. The girl looked around for any crossdressed girls, but unfortunately, found none. Letting out a deep sigh she decided to make her way to the auditorium where the assembly was being held.
The room was pretty empty. She must've been pretty early. Needing to kill some time, she flipped open her cellphone and began playing some games. She hadn't been paying attention to her surroundings and when she finally looked up from playing her game, the auditorium was crawling with girls. A loud clang caught her attention and she glanced at the girl in front of her. She had never seen her before. The new student had very broad shoulders and seemed really strong. Steroids? Yoona thought. No, she wasn't crazy muscular.
Pushing those thoughts away, Yoona leaned over to the girl. "What do you have in there? Weights?" She asked loudly, hoping to get the girl's attention over the loud music blasting form her headphones. "Ah, I'm Yoona, by the way. You're new, right?"
