While far from wealthy, the Westchesters have been a long standing family in the community of Silver Springs. His mother’s family had long run a farm, right outside of town, and his father’s family had been public servants, mostly police and firemen for as long as anyone could remember. His parents met in high school and were married after his father graduated from the police academy.
His mother helped run the farm and his father became a police officer from being a rookie, before they learned that Allison was pregnant with her first child, Robert. Life continued and then two years after Robert was born Allison gave birth to Shawn and then two years later Grace came along.
The family was among the working middle class and couldn’t afford luxuries but the children never without any necessities. They were also a close family and that supportive nature spilled out to the community and it became common for the friends of their children to come to their house, even offering a place to stay or food for those who might need it. That continues today and the family is known for offering a place for people (mostly students but all are welcomed) or a meal for those who have no place to go for the holidays. Over the summer they often have barbeques and such on the farm.
Shawn had struggled with his sexuality for a number of years and finally came out to his family when he was 15. Something which didn’t surprise them and they continued to support them. He came out to his friends and high school a year later, most of his friends remained so and supported him and he didn’t have too much of an issue with bullying. There were the few that would no longer talk to him but, possibly because of his family being so long standing in the community, he had it fairly easily than some when it came to that.
Three years ago, things changed for the family when Daniel was injured in the line of duty, when he was shot in the back when he came across a robbery in progress. He remains paralyzed from the waist down and unable to now be a police office Allison took over the farm from her parents and the family now works the farm which is open to the public.
The family remains close, all the children, have gone to Centennial University to stay close to their parents and help with the farm though their parents have told them that they should do what they want while in college.
Shawn had good grades and got a football scholarship to attend CU.

”Alright, do the problems at the end of chapter three and four for next time. Also, there’ll be a quiz next week on word problems.” The few groans heard from some of the students couldn’t be missed by the man but he figured that was from the few that weren’t doing well already in this class. [/b]”That’s it. Have a good weekend.”[/b]
With the College Algebra class now dismissed he starting packing up his things before being stopped by one of the students. Five minutes later he had given the man a name and number of an upper level math student who was willing to tutor. He was glad that at least someone in the class had taken his suggestion about asking if anyone needed a tutor. Zander had always loved and done well in math but he knew that it wasn’t the case for many students and he wanted to help them if he could but if they didn’t come to him there was little he could do. Unfortunately, that meant the man could see the future in this class for some of his students.
Once the student left; the man grabbed his things and made his way to the faculty lounge. He had some time before his next class and wanted to get a coffee and relax a little before going on. Tonight he had made plans with Starr for dinner at Rock Cliff because they could use some time together and a romantic dinner seemed like just the thing. He had found out from her, after the fact, about her looking for Magenta and while the man understood he hadn’t been happy that she hadn’t told anyone where she was going. Zander though was grateful for Eric Roberts for helping her and he would have to tell the man the next time he saw him.
He arrived at the faculty lounge, put his things on the table before he got a coffee, apparently a fresh pot had just been made but the faculty member who was on his way out the door, and then noticed some chocolate chip cookies there with a sign for anyone to take them. He got a cookie and sat down, as he was sipping his coffee he noticed someone coming in the room.
